Yes. SwatFree uses EPA-registered active ingredients (like metofluthrin and transfluthrin) that are already approved for consumer spatial repellent devices. These compounds are designed to repel insects at concentrations far below any safety threshold for humans or animals. The same active ingredients are used in products you can buy at Home Depot today.
SwatFree is being developed to meet all EPA requirements for spatial insect repellent devices under FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act). We use only EPA-registered active ingredients and are working through the appropriate registration process. Our goal is full compliance before any commercial units ship.
SwatFree is designed to work with any small engine that generates heat and airflow — riding mowers, zero-turns, push mowers, leaf blowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, and utility vehicles. Our first product targets riding mowers and zero-turns (the largest market), with adapters for other equipment following shortly after.
We're targeting 40+ hours of runtime per cartridge — enough for most homeowners to go an entire season, and enough for commercial operators to get several weeks of daily use. Replacement cartridges will be affordable and easy to swap (no tools required).
Not at all. SwatFree is a passive attachment that uses residual heat and existing airflow. It doesn't tap into the engine's fuel system, electrical system, or exhaust. Think of it like a heat-activated air freshener that clips onto your equipment — it uses energy the engine is already wasting.
